1. Liga: "Leevon PPK" rises to third, "Mārupe" snatches win in Rēzekne

In the 14th round, Leevon PPK beat Skanste 2-1 at home to climb to third place, while Mārupe defeated Rēzekne 2-1 after a missed penalty.

The 14th round of the LVBet 1. Liga featured several tight matches.

Leevon PPK won 2-1 against Skanste at home and moved up to third place in the standings. All three goals came from headers after set pieces: Niklāvs Treimanis opened the scoring, Taivo Abdulrahīm equalized, and Jeremiah Paul netted the winner.

Riga Mariners failed to capitalize on home advantage, drawing 1-1 with Ventspils. Elvis Stuglis saved a point in the 82nd minute after a cross, while Kirils Bullats had given the visitors a first-half lead with a long-range shot.

JDFS Alberts came from behind at home against Super Nova-2. Aleksandrs Mališevs put the visitors ahead in the 4th minute, but Rihards Ozoliņš converted a penalty in the 80th minute for handball.

The most dramatic finish was in Rēzekne, where Mārupe won 2-1. Rūdolfs Zeņģis gave the visitors the lead in the 61st minute, Dainis Žukovs equalized in the 74th, and in the 79th minute Andrejs Kovaļovs missed a penalty. However, Artjoms Seļiverstovs scored the winner in the 89th minute.

17-year-old RFS-2 player Kristofers Abrants scored a hat-trick in the final half-hour in Smiltene, helping his team to a 5-3 victory.

In the standings, Metta remains top with 34 points, followed by Valmiera (32) and Leevon PPK (30).
