15th Saeima's First Session: Oath Repeated and Social Media Criticism
At the first session of Latvia's 15th parliament on 3 November, deputies took the solemn oath, but several had to repeat it. Social media users criticised how the oath was read and how the hall was decorated.

The 15th Saeima, Latvia's parliament, held its first session on 3 November, marking the start of the new working season. All 100 deputies took the solemn oath, their mandates were confirmed and the new parliamentary leadership was elected. The session drew wide attention on social media after several deputies stumbled over the wording of the oath and had to take it again.
According to the source, the deputies read the oath from a text rather than reciting it from memory. Several social media users commented on this. One commenter, Anna, noted that some deputies had to repeat the oath even though the text was displayed on a screen. Another, Renāte, voiced outrage over the state-language skills of certain deputies.
Public comments
Singer Lauris Reiniks also commented. He said that watching the deputies take the oath felt like attending an acting audition: each delivered the address differently, one more expressively, another from memory, while one managed to create a particular sense of trust. A user named Guntis called the session more terrifying than Hollywood's top horror films.
The decoration of the hall also drew attention in the comments. Anete asked when a "normal florist" would finally be hired, while another user said the floral arrangement resembled grave flowers.
Composition of the Saeima
The 15th Saeima has 100 deputies from six political forces. The Central Election Commission confirmed the final election results on 16 October 2026. Seats are distributed as follows:
