Engadget has compiled its list of the best wireless headphones for 2026 across various categories. The Sony WH-1000XM6 takes the overall top spot, while Sennheiser, Noble Audio, Audio-Technica, Bose and Technics are highlighted in other segments.
Tech publication Engadget has released its roundup of the best wireless headphones for 2026, naming top models in different categories. The overall winner is the Sony WH-1000XM6, which features improved active noise cancellation thanks to a new QN3 chip and 12 microphones (up from eight on the previous model). It also delivers better sound quality with new drivers and spatial audio upmixing, along with 30 hours of battery life. The price has increased by $50 to $450.
In the "Best sound quality" category, the Sennheiser HDB 630 takes the lead with a USB-C dongle that supports up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution. Battery life is 60 hours with ANC on (45 hours in high-quality mode), and it offers a detailed EQ and Crossfeed feature. Runner-up is the Noble Audio FoKus Apollo, which uses dual drivers (dynamic and planar magnetic) for thick bass and clear highs, but its ANC is just decent.
The Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT is the best under $100 at $79, offering 60 hours of battery, Bluetooth multipoint connectivity, and a comfortable fit without ANC.
For top noise cancellation, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra (2nd gen) provides enhanced ActiveSense ANC that smooths sudden noise spikes, plus lossless audio over USB-C and 30 hours of battery (five hours more than its predecessor).
