The 2026 World Cup continues with the final group stage matches determining the knockout round participants. Of the 12 teams playing tonight, only Germany and the host nation USA have already guaranteed their spots.

Group stage status

Germany advanced from Group E with a 7-1 win over Curaçao and a 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast, with Deniz Undav scoring the winner in stoppage time. The USA topped Group D after beating Paraguay 4-1 and Australia 2-0.

USA coach Mauricio Pochettino announced before the match against Turkey that he will not start four players with yellow cards, as another booking would cause them to miss the round of 16.

Other teams' chances

Turkey (0-2 vs Australia, 0-1 vs Paraguay) and Tunisia (1-5 vs Sweden, 0-4 vs Japan) are already eliminated. Tunisia fired their coach after the first match.

Group D's second place will be decided in the Australia vs Paraguay match. If it ends in a draw, Australia advances due to a better goal difference.

In Group E, Ivory Coast needs only a draw against Curaçao to progress. Ecuador must beat Germany to stay alive, and their chances improve since Germany already secured first place.

Group F features Netherlands vs Tunisia and Sweden vs Japan. The group winner will face Morocco in the next round, while the runner-up meets Brazil.

The Netherlands drew 2-2 with Japan and then beat Sweden 5-1. Sweden had previously defeated Tunisia 5-1, while Japan bounced back from the draw with a 4-0 win over Tunisia.

Debutants Curaçao can still qualify if they beat Ivory Coast and Ecuador loses to Germany.
