249 Combat Engagements in a Day: Heaviest Fighting on Pokrovsk and Sloviansk Axes
Over the past day, 249 combat engagements occurred along the front line, with the most intense clashes near Pokrovsk and Sloviansk; Russia launched 85 airstrikes and used nearly 10,000 kamikaze drones.

According to the morning update from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, July 16 saw 249 combat engagements. Russian forces carried out one missile strike (8 missiles), 85 airstrikes dropping 265 guided bombs, and launched 9,920 kamikaze drones. Additionally, 3,110 shellings were recorded, including 31 from multiple launch rocket systems.
The most intense fighting occurred on the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 37 assaults near the settlements of Dorozhne, Hryshyne, Novopidhorodne, Rodynske, Vasylivka, Kotlyne, and towards Vilne, Novyi Donbas, Myrne, Serhiivka, and Kucheriv Yar. On the Sloviansk direction, 23 attacks took place, with the enemy targeting Kryva Luka, Rai-Oleksandrivka, Pyskunivka, Mykolaivka, and areas near Riznykivka and Zakitne.
Other directions: 20 engagements on Kostiantynivka, 17 on Huliaipole, 10 on Lyman, 10 on Orikhiv, 3 on Kupiansk, 2 on Oleksandrivsk, and 1 on Kramatorsk. On the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russia attacked 19 times near Starytsia and towards Izbystske, Kutkivka, Khatnie, Kozacha Lopan, Hoptivka, Radkivka, Vilcha, and Bereznyky. On the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy conducted 1 airstrike (2 guided bombs) and 65 shellings, including one from MLRS.
Ukrainian defense forces struck back: aviation, missile troops, and artillery hit 18 concentration areas of enemy personnel and two other important enemy objects.
