Rodrigo Ābols Ends North American Chapter, Moves to Switzerland's SC Bern
Latvian national team forward Rodrigo Ābols has signed a three-year contract with SC Bern of the Swiss NL, ending his stint in North America.

Rodrigo Ābols, a 30-year-old Latvian forward, is continuing his career in Switzerland after his North American period came to an end. Last season, he played for the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, but an ankle injury in late January cut his season short.
Ābols has signed a three-year contract with SC Bern. According to Swiss media outlet Watson, citing sources close to the situation, the agreement was reached some time ago but was not announced because the player was waiting for an NHL offer. Analyst Klaus Zaugg reports that Ābols is likely to play on Bern's first line.
Before joining the Flyers system, Ābols spent six seasons in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He has no prior experience in the Swiss NL. Last season with the Flyers, he played 42 games, recording 3 goals and 7 assists. In his entire NHL career, he has 64 games, 15 points (5+10), and a -11 plus-minus rating.
SC Bern finished 9th in the regular season last year and failed to qualify for the playoffs.
