Ābols, Sorokins and Ankipāns to continue leading Latvia's youth hockey teams, women's team gets new coach
The Latvian Hockey Federation has confirmed head coaches for its youth and women's national teams for the new season, with Vladimirs Koniševs taking over the women's squad while junior and youth coaches remain in place.

The Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) has confirmed the head coaches for its youth and women's national hockey teams for the upcoming 2026/2027 season.
Junior and youth teams
Artis Ābols will continue as head coach of Latvia's U-20 junior team, a role he has held since summer 2022. Under his guidance, the team will compete in the elite division of the IIHF U-20 World Championship in Canada in late December and early January.
Oļegs Sorokins, who has led the U-18 team since the 2017/2018 season, will remain in charge for the coming season as well. The youth team will play in the elite division of the next World Championship, to be held in the United States.
Ģirts Ankipāns will continue as head coach of the U-17 team, which will take part in the European Youth Winter Olympic Festival in Brașov, Romania, early next year.
Women's teams
Local specialist Vladimirs Koniševs has been confirmed as head coach of Latvia's women's national hockey team. Under his leadership, the team will prepare for exhibition games and tournaments, including the Division I Group B World Championship set to take place in South Korea next autumn.
Miks Golubovičs will continue leading the U-18 women's team for another season. This team will compete in the Division II Group A World Championship tournament in Istanbul, Turkey, early next year.
The LHF thanked all the coaches for their work and wished them success in the upcoming season.
