One dead after truck and car collide in Ādaži

A Volvo truck collided with a Mercedes Benz car in Ādaži Municipality on Thursday evening, killing one person. Police are investigating the circumstances.

A traffic collision in Ādaži Municipality left one person dead on Thursday evening, State Police told Delfi.

The crash between a Volvo truck and a Mercedes Benz car occurred at around 10:20 p.m. in the "Krāčupes" area of Ādaži parish. Police are now working to establish exactly what happened.

Nationwide road safety figures

According to State Police data covering the preceding 24-hour period, 135 traffic accidents were recorded across Latvia. Fourteen people were injured in these incidents, and one person died — the same fatality recorded in the Ādaži crash.

Authorities issued 410 administrative penalty decisions related to traffic violations during this period, of which 131 were for speeding.

Two administrative violation cases and two separate criminal proceedings were opened over driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, two criminal proceedings were launched for driving suspected to be under the influence of narcotic substances.
