One killed in truck and car collision in Ādaži region
A truck and a passenger car collided in the Ādaži region on Thursday evening, killing one person. Latvia recorded 135 traffic accidents that day, injuring 14 more people.
A collision between a Volvo truck and a Mercedes-Benz passenger car occurred in the Ādaži region on Thursday evening, resulting in one fatality. The State Police, which is investigating the circumstances of the crash, confirmed the incident to the LETA news agency.
The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) reported that hydraulic tools were needed to extract the deceased person from the vehicle. Afterward, rescuers disconnected the car's battery terminals and cleared the road surface.
Second crash in Stopiņi parish
On the same day, VUGD crews also responded to another accident in Stopiņi parish, Ropaži municipality, where a passenger car collided with a bus in the early afternoon. A person was freed from the car and handed over to emergency medical services.

According to police data, 135 traffic accidents were registered across Latvia on Thursday, injuring 14 people in addition to the fatality in Ādaži. Ten of the injured were in the Riga region, three in Latgale and one in Kurzeme. Among those hurt were four cyclists and two electric scooter riders.
Police detained four drivers for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol and two more who had used narcotic substances. Most intoxicated offenders were caught around Riga and in Zemgale. Four of the detained drivers were so severely intoxicated that they face criminal liability, which will result in confiscation of their vehicle or recovery of its value.
A total of 131 reports were issued for speeding — most in Zemgale and Latgale, fewest in Kurzeme. Overall, police issued 410 reports for traffic violations on Thursday.
