Ādaži municipality to raise heating tariffs, Kadaga residents face 30% hike

SIA Balteneko has prepared and submitted for approval new heat energy production tariffs for two boiler houses serving parts of Ādaži municipality. According to the company's announcement, the scale of changes differs significantly between the two areas.

Sharp increase expected in Kadaga

The biggest change will affect residents served by the boiler house at Elīzes iela 10 in Kadaga. There, the tariff will rise from the current 84.52 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh) to 109.89 euros per MWh excluding VAT — an increase of about 30% compared to the previous rate. The company states this tariff would remain in effect in Kadaga until February 29, 2028, after which, starting March 1, 2028, it would climb even further, reaching 129.03 euros per MWh.

More moderate change in Ādaži

The situation looks different for the boiler house at Atteka iela 43 in Ādaži. Based on a natural gas price of 56 euros per MWh, the tariff would increase from 81.41 euros to 83.55 euros per MWh excluding VAT, representing an increase of just under 3%.

Reason and next steps

Balteneko explains that the tariff increases at both locations are driven by fluctuations in fuel prices. Unless the Public Utilities Commission (SPRK) adopts and publishes in the official gazette "Latvijas Vēstnesis" a decision to cancel the tariffs before then, they will take effect on October 1, 2026. After the announcement is published in "Latvijas Vēstnesis," residents and service users will have seven days to review the justification for the proposed tariff and submit their objections or suggestions.
