Four soldiers from the Italian contingent were injured on Friday during military exercises at the Ādaži training area in Latvia. All four were taken to a medical facility in Riga, where they are receiving treatment.

How the incident happened
Italy's Ministry of Defence said the incident occurred during live-fire training. A non-automatic firearm mounted on an Italian military vehicle was being used at the time.
During the shooting, rounds struck another Italian military vehicle carrying four soldiers. According to the Italian Ministry of Defence, one of the injured is in more serious condition than the others.
