Adele Cerina's First Graduation: Family Faces Stress Before School Enrollment

Aivis and Lelde Cerina's daughter Adele has celebrated her first graduation – from kindergarten. While the graduation atmosphere was festive, Aivis highlights the stress parents face when enrolling their children in school.

"There are crazy queues because parents simultaneously register their children in several schools in the Riga district and then live in mild stress for two months," he says. He finds this system unfair to both parents and teachers. However, the family has already chosen a school, and now the summer break will be conditional.

Aivis notes that the requirements for first grade are high. Adele already knows reading, counting to ten, and basic arithmetic, but needs to refine her skills. Particularly, he emphasizes understanding text tasks, which is a higher level beyond simple reading. "We'll work on that over the summer, and everything will be fine," Aivis concludes.
