Adobe Makes AI Tools Easier to Use Directly Inside Premiere
Adobe is updating its Premiere Pro video editing software so users can generate video and audio content directly within the project timeline. The update also brings new AI audio tools and an AI assistant for After Effects.
Adobe has changed the way video editors can use artificial intelligence tools within its professional Premiere software. The new Generative Media tool makes it simpler to create video, sound effects, music, and soundscapes without leaving the project timeline.
The generators themselves are not entirely new, but their accessibility has changed significantly — they can now be used without interrupting the editing workflow. Previously, editors had to switch between browsers or external applications to find missing video footage or audio elements. Now, by selecting an empty gap on a video or audio track, editors can instantly create context-aware, fully editable clips without leaving the project.
Editors can choose from several AI models directly within the timeline — including Adobe Firefly, Google Veo, Runway, Luma, and Kling — to best match the style of their particular project.
New audio and After Effects tools
Premiere is also gaining new AI audio tools, currently in beta, that can separate overlapping speakers, automatically lower music volume under speech, and independently adjust dialogue and ambient sound levels.
Meanwhile, Adobe is adding an AI assistant to After Effects, also in beta. It will allow editors to use plain-language commands to reorganize projects, fix technical issues, and create effects without writing expressions manually.
