General Intuition nears $6B valuation as new funding round takes shape
New York-based AI startup General Intuition is in talks to raise fresh funding at a $6 billion pre-money valuation from investors including Valor Equity Partners and Point72 Ventures. The round comes just weeks after the company raised $320 million at a $2.3 billion valuation.

General Intuition, a New York-based startup developing a foundation model that trains generalized AI agents to navigate space and time, is reportedly in talks to raise new funding at a $6 billion pre-money valuation. Sources familiar with the matter say new investors joining the round include Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six, alongside existing backers Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst.
The potential new round comes just weeks after General Intuition closed a $320 million raise at a $2.3 billion valuation, underscoring how quickly the company has become one of the most sought-after startups in the physical AI space.
Origins in gaming
CEO Pim de Witte spun General Intuition out last October from his video game clip-sharing platform, Medal. The company's initial training data drew on hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay footage along with "action labels" — records of exactly which buttons players pressed and when.
Investor Vinod Khosla has told TechCrunch he believes these action labels could play a key role in what he calls the "emergence of intuition" — a model's ability to genuinely generalize to tasks it was never explicitly trained on.
Round still being finalized
General Intuition is still finalizing the funding round, and a source close to the deal said it is oversubscribed, with investor interest continuing to grow. The company plans to use the capital to improve its general-purpose model with a particular focus on robotic embodiments, which means increased spending on compute infrastructure — including its existing partnership with CoreWeave — as well as expanded hiring.
Valor Equity Partners, known for its early backing of SpaceX, would be making its first AI lab investment since that deal if the investment is confirmed. TechCrunch has reached out to Valor to verify its participation in the round.
