Valor, Point72 in talks to back General Intuition at $6B valuation for robotics push
New York-based AI startup General Intuition is negotiating a new funding round at a roughly $6 billion pre-money valuation, joined by new backers including Valor Equity Partners and Point72 Ventures. The company plans to use the funds to focus its foundation model on robotics.

General Intuition, a New York-based startup building a foundation model designed to help AI agents navigate space and time, is reportedly negotiating a new funding round at a pre-money valuation of roughly $6 billion. According to people familiar with the matter, new investors joining the round include Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six, while existing backers Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst are also participating.
The potential deal comes just weeks after the company closed a $320 million round at a $2.3 billion valuation, marking a rapid jump in valuation and underscoring the intense investor interest in physical AI startups.
Origins in gaming data
General Intuition was spun out last October by CEO Pim de Witte from his video game clip-sharing platform, Medal. The startup's initial training dataset drew on hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay footage along with "action labels" — records of which buttons players pressed and when. Investor Vinod Khosla has said he believes these action labels could play a key role in helping models generalize to tasks they weren't explicitly trained on, a capability he has described as the "emergence of intuition."
Round still being finalized
The funding round has not yet closed, and a source close to the deal says it is oversubscribed, with investor interest continuing to grow. General Intuition intends to direct the new capital toward improving its foundation model, with a particular focus on robotic embodiments. That includes increased spending on compute infrastructure — the company has a partnership with CoreWeave — as well as expanded hiring.
Valor Equity Partners, known for its early backing of SpaceX, would be making its first AI lab investment since that deal if the investment is confirmed. TechCrunch has reached out to Valor for confirmation.
