Call to Thank Latvian Language and Literature Teachers
The Latvian Language Agency invites students and parents to submit five reasons why their Latvian language and literature teacher is the best by June 19, 2026. The five most heartfelt entries will receive a set of five books.
As the school year ends and summer begins, the Latvian Language Agency (LVA) is encouraging everyone to acknowledge those who have supported the learning process – especially Latvian language and literature teachers. These educators are referred to as "lilac five-leaf clovers," highlighting their unique role in fostering an understanding of the language's beauty and students' growth.
To participate, individuals must complete a questionnaire by June 19, 2026, listing five facts demonstrating why their teacher is the best. From all submissions, five with the most heartfelt messages will be selected, and their authors will receive a set of five books from the LVA as a gift. The prize includes the following titles: "Word Hide-and-Seek, or The Crocodile and the Omelet Orchestra," "101 Ideas for Promoting Reading Skills," "The Idea Encyclopedia for Learning Latvian," "Language – A Cultural Instrument," and "Loving Words: I Like You. I Like You Too."
This initiative aims to appreciate teachers' often unnoticed work and encourages the public to express gratitude for their contribution to preserving the Latvian language and culture.
