Fire crew called to Aizkraukle over unattended cooking pot
On Monday evening, Latvia's State Fire and Rescue Service was called to an apartment building in Aizkraukle after food left unattended on a stove began to burn. No injuries or further spread were reported.
On Monday, August 10, shortly before 6 p.m., Latvia's State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a call to Draudzības Embankment in Aizkraukle.
In a second-floor apartment of a nine-story residential building, food had been left cooking on a stove unattended and began to burn. The affected area was small, covering roughly 0.1 square meters.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and prevented the situation from escalating further. The official report did not provide additional details on any injuries or smoke spreading through the building.
Unattended cooking is one of the most common causes of household fires in Latvia, and the fire service regularly reminds residents to stay attentive while cooking.
