Several road accidents in Aizkraukle; truck driver injured

Several road traffic accidents have been recorded in the Aizkraukle region over the past days, including a collision with a cyclist and a truck overturn.

Over the past days, several road traffic accidents have occurred in the Aizkraukle region, one of which left a person injured.

On the morning of 4 August, in Mazzalve Parish, a woman born in 1969 was driving a Toyota when she left the road and hit a fence. No one was injured, but the vehicle and fence were damaged. Police have launched an administrative offence procedure.

Later that day, VUGD received a call to Kurmene Parish, where a soil shredder was burning. The fire was extinguished before firefighters arrived.

On 5 August, shortly before noon, in Aizkraukle on Bērzu Street, a Volvo driven by a woman born in 1980 collided with a bicycle ridden by a woman born in 1957. The cyclist was trapped under the car, and firefighters had to free her. The injured woman was handed over to the emergency medical service. Two other cars, a Volkswagen and a Chrysler, were also damaged in the accident. The State Police have launched a criminal investigation and are clarifying the circumstances.

In the evening, at around 21:20, in Staburags Parish, a man born in 1968 was driving a Scania truck when a tire blew. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the road, and overturned. The driver was taken to a medical facility.
