Rural homestead in Aizkraukle district has been without power for a week
Residents of the «Lakstīgalas» homestead in Latvia's Aizkraukle district have gone seven days without electricity, but say they are managing fine thanks to food supplies, water, a wood stove and a generator.
A rural homestead called «Lakstīgalas» in the Aizkraukle district of Latvia has been without electricity for seven days. Despite the prolonged outage, the household's residents say they are not complaining about their situation.
According to the homeowners, they have enough food, access to water, and a wood-burning stove that allows them to keep warm and cook meals even without power. In addition, the homestead has a generator, which lets them use electrical appliances when needed.
A calm response to the outage
The residents say that living without electricity for a week is not a major hardship compared to what people in Ukraine are currently going through. They note that daily life for Ukrainians under wartime conditions is far more difficult than the temporary inconvenience of a power outage in the Latvian countryside.
