Heating tariffs to rise in Aizkraukle and Jēkabpils regions due to fuel price increase

Several heating companies in the Aizkraukle and Jēkabpils municipalities plan to raise heat energy tariffs because of rising fuel procurement costs. Local authorities are already preparing for the upcoming heating season.

As the new heating season approaches, municipalities across Latvia are making preparations, but heat suppliers are facing a notable increase in fuel prices. Companies purchasing the necessary fuel are now paying noticeably more than before, and these added costs will ultimately be passed on to consumers.

Tariffs rising in several municipalities

A number of heating companies have already announced plans to raise heat energy tariffs. This trend has been observed in both the Aizkraukle and Jēkabpils municipalities, where companies cite rising fuel prices as the main reason behind the changes.

Heating companies' expenses largely depend on fuel prices on both global and local markets, meaning any fluctuations directly affect their ability to maintain current tariffs. The ongoing price increase is now pushing companies to look for ways to cover the additional costs, with raising tariffs for consumers being one such measure.

Preparing for the heating season

Municipalities and heating companies are currently working on preparations for the next heating season to ensure uninterrupted heat supply to residents and institutions. Tariff changes are one aspect of this process that both households and businesses in the affected municipalities will need to take into account.
