Masterclass on Wood Joints Held in Historic 'Serde' Complex in Aizpute
This weekend, Aizpute hosts a masterclass on traditional 18th-century wood joinery techniques, led by carpenters from the Latvian Chamber of Crafts.

In Aizpute, at the unique 18th-century wooden architecture complex that also houses the interdisciplinary art group "Serde," a masterclass is taking place this weekend. Participants are learning how to create traditional wood joints used in historical buildings.
The masterclass is led by carpenters Raivis Austriņš and Guntars Upenieks from the Latvian Chamber of Crafts. Under their guidance, attendees are crafting roof rafters, corner joints, and other structural fragments analogous to those found in 18th-century wooden constructions. The event aims to preserve and pass on ancient craftsmanship skills, ensuring the authentic feel of historic buildings is not lost.
