Defense Minister Admits Mistakes in Informing Public About Air Show Training Flights
Latvian Defense Minister Raivis Meļnis acknowledged that the Ministry of Defense and the National Armed Forces made errors in informing the public about low-level training flights for an air show, promising to pay more attention to private events in the future.

In an interview on Latvian Radio's program “Labrīt”, Defense Minister Raivis Meļnis admitted that the Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the National Armed Forces (NAF) had made mistakes in informing the public about low-altitude overflights related to air show training. According to the minister, the institutions will learn from these errors and will give greater consideration to private events when disseminating information about military transport low-level flights.
The minister did not specify what concrete changes will be implemented but emphasized that responsible bodies must pay more attention to ensuring that residents receive timely information about planned activities. The promise came after public confusion arose over the noise caused by low-flying military aircraft, which was explained as training flights for an upcoming air show.
