In the village of Rauda in Šēdere Parish, Augšdaugava region, work continues on establishing a temporary detention center for foreigners. Last autumn, the local government agreed to hand over the former school building to the Ministry of the Interior, and construction began in March of this year.
Currently, the surrounding area has been partially improved, and interior work is underway—windows and doors have been replaced, and utilities have been renovated. The center is expected to become operational by the end of the year, providing accommodation for detained foreigners.
