The State Police's Organized Crime Combating Department is continuing its investigation into a large-scale case involving illegal trade in excise goods. During the probe, investigators uncovered another warehouse that held various materials used for packaging tobacco products.
Information gathered so far shows that the warehouse was rented by a company specially created for this purpose and registered in another country, pointing to a carefully planned scheme designed to conceal the illegal operation's tracks.
Professional operation and banned goods
According to investigators, evidence collected to date indicates that an organized criminal group has been operating in a professional manner, with thorough preparation aimed at hiding traces of the illicit business. The group is also reported to have used prohibited goods of strategic importance, items normally intended for counter-intelligence and counteraction purposes.
