Actor Uldis Anže of the National Theatre celebrated his 55th birthday on August 2. The milestone comes shortly before the start of autumn, prompting his theatre colleagues to share warm words about his career.

A wide range of roles

Colleagues at the National Theatre, who have followed Anže's creative journey since 1993, describe him as an actor of remarkable range. On the theatre's stage, he has portrayed a wide variety of characters — from sensitive lovers and intellectual seekers of life's meaning to naive idealists, as well as villains both charming and repellent.

Such a broad characterization points to the actor's versatility and his ability to inhabit both psychologically nuanced and vividly dramatic roles over more than three decades of his creative life devoted to the theatre.

On the occasion of his birthday, his theatre colleagues took the opportunity to look back on his contribution and thank him for his work in the performing arts.
