Laura Siliņa is regarded as one of the most accomplished actresses at the Latvian National Theatre, though her path there looked different from that of many peers. While other young actresses focused on building their careers right after graduation, Siliņa chose to marry and become a mother to two daughters.

She says she has never regretted that decision, having managed to build both a family and a successful acting career. This is reflected in her nomination this year for the “Spēlmaņu nakts” award in the Actress of the Year category, one of the most prestigious honours in Latvia's theatre industry.

Life beyond the stage

While theatre holds an important place in Siliņa's life, she notes that she does not live for it alone. Rest and leisure matter to her, as does civic responsibility.

Siliņa encourages people not to forget to take part in elections, calling it very important. In her view, civic participation is one of those things that should not be missed, alongside other significant life choices.
