Albania sees largest protests since communism over Trump-linked resort and corruption

Protests in Albania, sparked by anger over a luxury resort project linked to Donald Trump, have escalated into demands for the prime minister's resignation and government reforms to tackle systemic corruption. These are the largest protests since the fall of communism in 1991.

Albania's protests widen in scope

What began as public anger over a luxury resort project associated with former US President Donald Trump in Albania has transformed into a broader political movement. Protesters are now calling for Prime Minister Edi Rama to step down and demanding comprehensive government reforms to address what they describe as endemic corruption.

According to reports, these demonstrations are the largest in Albania since the collapse of communism in 1991. The protests have spread across multiple cities, including the capital Tirana, with thousands of citizens taking to the streets.

Protesters argue that the Trump-linked resort is just one example of how political elites enrich themselves at the expense of the public. They accuse the government of failing to implement meaningful anti-corruption measures and demand a complete overhaul of the political system.

The protesters have vowed to continue their actions until their demands are met. The government has not yet issued a formal response to the protest movement.
