Alienware 15 Review: Strong Performance, But Competitors Offer Better Value

The Alienware 15 with an RTX 5050 has been reviewed by Wired as a powerful gaming laptop. The reviewer noted that achieving smooth frame rates sometimes required lowering graphics settings to Medium, but this did not significantly harm image quality. Performance
According to the review, the Alienware 15 with RTX 5050 is 77 percent faster in games than the best integrated Intel graphics found in the latest Dell XPS 14. The 165-Hz display allows full use of DLSS upscaling and frame generation. In tests, Cyberpunk 2077 hit 65 FPS at 1080p Ultra and 82 FPS at Medium; Marvel Rivals reached 38 and 63 FPS; Black Myth: Wukong delivered 30 and 59 FPS.
Battery Life
Because the laptop avoids the latest Intel processors, battery life is not a strong point. It likely won't last more than six hours under very light loads, and only a few hours with a fuller workload of apps and browser tabs.
Competition
Throughout most of 2026, the reviewer has recommended the Lenovo LOQ 15 for its excellent value. It features an RTX 5060 and originally sold for under $1,000; now it costs $1,200, the same as the Alienware 15 with the less desirable RTX 5050. The LOQ 15 offers a better display and faster gaming performance, making it the preferred choice. Lenovo is also planning a new LOQ Essential 15, which will be more expensive and closer in price to the Alienware, while the cheaper RTX 5050 configuration is not yet available.
For buyers seeking the lowest price on an RTX 5050 laptop, the Acer Nitro V 16 or MSI Cyborg A15 offer equivalent performance and screen quality for less money, sometimes by hundreds of dollars. The Alienware 15 looks and feels better than those devices, but its price is slightly too high, especially considering the quality of the screen.
