Alcohol trading restrictions introduced a year ago have not significantly reduced overall alcohol purchases, but they have changed buyer shopping habits as consumers adapt to the new rules, retailers told LETA.

The restrictions have particularly affected small rural shops, which found it more difficult to adjust to the new conditions. However, overall, alcohol consumption in society is declining each year, while the popularity of non-alcoholic beverages is increasing.
