Allentown's Mack Truck Museum preserves over a century of trucking history

The Mack Truck Museum in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has documented the history of the Mack truck company since it opened in 1984. Visits require booking a guided tour, offered three days a week.

In Allentown, Pennsylvania, the Mack Truck Museum has operated since 1984 as a dedicated space for preserving the history of the Mack truck company. Its holdings include vehicle build records, service and parts documentation, engineering drawings, photographs, memorabilia, and a collection of vintage Mack truck models.

From Brooklyn to North Carolina

The company behind the museum, Mack Brothers Motor Company, was founded in Brooklyn, New York, in 1900. It later registered in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, and kept its corporate headquarters in Allentown for more than a hundred years before relocating to North Carolina in 2009.

What visitors can see

Among the museum's notable items are the company's original bulldog mascot, known as Mack, and a 1909 Mack Brothers bus. The collection also includes the Megatron prop used in the film Transformers: Dark of the Moon, along with experimental and specialized truck rigs and the company's historical archives.

Visiting the museum requires booking a guided tour in advance. Tours are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
