Straight-sets victory
In her first-round match, Ostapenko defeated Anastasia Zakharova in two sets, 6:4, 6:1. The win secures her a place in the tournament's second round.
Ranking gap
According to the latest Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, Ostapenko currently holds the 32nd position in the world rankings. Her opponent Zakharova, meanwhile, sits considerably lower at 109th place. The ranking difference was reflected in the match itself, with Ostapenko showing clear dominance in both sets, particularly the second, which she closed out convincingly at 6:1.
