Alton Towers permanently closes its David Walliams-themed area
The UK theme park Alton Towers has announced the permanent closure of its area themed on children's author David Walliams. No reason for the closure has been given.

Alton Towers, a theme park in England, has announced that its "World of David Walliams" area has closed for good. The section, based on the work of British comedian and children's author David Walliams, opened to visitors in 2021.
The announcement was published on the park's website. It said the main season had ended, so guests should check the resort's website and app for the latest information on which attractions are open before they visit. No reason for the closure was given, and the BBC reports that the park has been asked for further details.
What the area included
Over a number of years, the park's creative team developed the area together with Walliams and the publisher's division HarperCollins Children's Books. Its attractions included Gangsta Granny: The Ride, which features 360-degree special effects, as well as Raj's Bouncy Bottom Burp and the Royal Carousel.
