Amazon launches Alexa+ in India with Hindi language support
Amazon has rolled out its Alexa+ conversational assistant in India with Hindi support, letting users hold longer, context-aware conversations. It is initially free in early access, with a paid tier planned for non-Prime users later.

Amazon has announced that its AI-powered conversational assistant Alexa+ is now available in India with Hindi language support. The assistant can hold longer conversations while maintaining context, and users can switch between English and Hindi even mid-sentence.
The feature is currently available to all customers in India in Early Access, in both Hindi and English, at no cost. Once the testing period ends, the assistant will be free for Amazon Prime members, while non-Prime customers will be charged ₹2,000 per month, roughly $20.85.
Broader capabilities
Amazon says the upgraded Alexa has a more expressive voice and can handle complex, multi-step tasks, such as ordering groceries through its quick-commerce service Amazon Now or controlling smart home devices. The assistant is also integrated with several India-based services, including food delivery platform Swiggy, ticket-booking platform District (owned by Zomato), travel sites TripAdvisor and MakeMyTrip, and restaurant reservation app EazyDiner. It further connects with music streaming services Amazon Music and JioSaavn.
A longer path into the Indian market
Amazon first launched Alexa in India in English in 2017 and added Hindi support in 2019. The company points to India's more than 600 million Hindi speakers as a key reason for pushing further into the market with smart devices and new features. Amazon said sales of its smart home devices had grown 20% year-over-year, though it did not disclose specific figures.
Alexa+ was originally unveiled in 2025 and made available to all U.S. users in 2026. This year, Amazon has also rolled out the assistant with local-language support in markets including the U.K., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, and Germany.
