Amazon launches Kindle Click, a $35 remote for hands-free page turning

Amazon unveiled the Kindle Click, a $34.99 Bluetooth remote that lets readers turn e-reader pages without touching the screen, alongside a redesigned Kindle lineup. The accessory works with all new Kindles and models released since 2024.

As part of a redesigned Kindle lineup featuring slimmer builds, zero bezels, and a lighter feel, Amazon announced several new accessories on Thursday. Among them is the Kindle Click, a compact Bluetooth remote priced at $34.99 that lets readers flip pages without touching their device.

The concept addresses a small but common frustration for e-reader owners: having to reach over and tap the screen every time they want to advance to the next page. Amazon suggests the remote is particularly useful in situations where touching the Kindle directly is inconvenient — reading under the covers, exercising on a treadmill, or using a Kindle propped on an airplane tray table. Instead of reaching for the device, users simply press a button on the remote.

The Kindle Click works with all new Kindle devices as well as models released from 2024 onward.

Entering a growing accessory category

Until now, Kindle owners have mostly relied on third-party clip-on accessories that physically touch the screen rather than communicating wirelessly with the device. With the Kindle Click, Amazon enters a category competitors have already explored: Rakuten Kobo introduced its $29.99 Kobo Remote last year, and BOOX offers a similarly priced $29.99 Tappy remote for its ePaper devices.

Although Amazon's remote costs more than these rivals, the company appears to be betting that Kindle owners will pay a premium for an official accessory built specifically for the lineup.

The new Kindle generation represents one of the most significant physical redesigns in years, with Amazon saying its display turns pages 30% faster than the previous generation. Alongside the Kindle Click, Amazon also unveiled a magnetic cover with built-in physical page-turn buttons and a charging dock stand designed for the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.
