The Warhammer 40,000 universe is expanding into animation. According to a report, Amazon MGM Studios, Blur Studios and Games Workshop are jointly developing an animated TV series based on the popular tabletop wargame. The project will be a spinoff of the Secret Level episode that was itself inspired by Warhammer 40,000.

Dave Wilson, who directed that installment for the Prime Video anthology, will reprise his role as director for the new animated show and also serve as co-creator. Tim Miller, the creator of Secret Level, is also attached as an executive producer. Blur Studios, which Miller co-founded, was involved in producing the anthology and is now part of this new venture.

Henry Cavill, a well-known Warhammer enthusiast who is already working on live-action adaptations of the game, joins the project as an executive producer. His involvement had been a point of concern for fans, especially given the lack of updates on the live-action front. Games Workshop, in its recent financial report, shared some details about those live-action projects. The creative team is only now beginning to write a script, years after Amazon secured the rights. CEO Kevin Rountree confirmed that Cavill remains involved, putting to rest rumors that he might have left the franchise.
