Amazon MGM Drops Film About Sam Altman
Luca Guadagnino's film 'Artificial' about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will not be released by Amazon MGM; the studio is seeking a new distributor.

Amazon MGM has decided not to release Luca Guadagnino's film "Artificial," which focuses on OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, as reported by The Verge.
The film, starring Andrew Garfield, covers the tumultuous five days in 2023 when Altman was fired and then reinstated. Other cast members include Monica Barbaro as OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, Ike Barinholtz as Elon Musk, and Yura Borisov as OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever.
In a statement to Deadline, the studio said the movie "will be better served if it were released by a different studio" and is working closely with the filmmaking team to find it a new home. Puck first reported the decision.
Amazon and OpenAI have close ties, with Amazon announcing a $50 billion investment in the AI lab in February. The project had been in development for about a year.
