Aminata: Laima Vaikule is a role model to aspire to
Latvian singer Aminata Savadogo has expressed her admiration for Laima Vaikule, calling her a benchmark for musicality, talent, and voice timbre. She also spoke about a possible return to Eurovision and her upcoming concerts.

Latvian singer Aminata Savadogo has opened up about her admiration for iconic singer Laima Vaikule in an interview with the magazine “Kas Jauns”. She recalled getting to know Vaikule after participating in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, where she placed 6th with her self-written song “Love Injected”.
“I have always admired her. Recently, a performance of Laima’s appeared in my feed, and I watched with interest what she has done on stage and in such quality. It is an example to strive for – her musicality, talent, and voice timbre,” said Aminata.
Aminata recently performed at Laima Vaikule’s festival “Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala 2026” at the Dzintari Concert Hall. The rehearsal took place at Vaikule’s property in Jūrmala, where Aminata met festival producer Elita Mīlgrāve.
Regarding a possible return to Eurovision, Aminata was cautious: “Never say never, but I also don’t say yes. In my opinion, a great coincidence of circumstances is needed. If the right song comes, then perhaps I will participate again.”
The singer revealed that this summer is busier than previous years. After the festival, she will perform on August 15 in Liepāja at the Tipogrāfija creative quarter with the Baltic Groove Orchestra. However, the biggest event will be her concert at Palladium on November 26, where not only her songs will be played but she will also have a conversation with the audience.
