Analysts name the deadliest cars on the road

Modern cars are increasingly equipped with advanced safety systems — braking assistants, seatbelt pretensioners, extensive airbag setups and other technologies — yet the number of people killed in road accidents remains high. A new study by analysts at the platform iSeeCars underscores this once again.

The experts examined United States traffic accident data from recent years and used it to build a ranking of vehicles with the most unfavorable outcomes in terms of fatal accident rates.

Test scores don't match real-world outcomes

The findings show that most of the models included in the ranking actually performed well, or even excellently, in official crash tests. In other words, these vehicles formally meet established safety standards and manufacturers' declared requirements.

However, according to the study's authors, real-world road safety cannot be reduced to technical test results alone. The human factor — driver attention, driving habits and decision-making in critical situations — plays a major, often decisive role, alongside a vehicle's own dimensions and structural characteristics, which can affect how severe the consequences of a crash turn out to be.

The researchers say such rankings serve as a reminder that even a car that looks perfectly safe cannot guarantee full protection if drivers fail to follow cautious driving practices. Analysts encourage drivers to familiarize themselves more closely with their vehicle's safety statistics and to observe road safety rules regardless of a car's brand or equipment level.
