In Latvia, bird nest live streams provided by the Latvian Nature Fund have become increasingly popular. Thousands of people tune in to watch the dramas of bird life – the birth of chicks, the formation of pairs, and sometimes tragedies. One of these viewers is Anda, who has been watching the streams since 2009.

Anda says she cries every time she sees familiar birds return home after migration. This is the period when most birds die, so their return is especially significant. She first became interested in bird watching in 2009 when she accidentally stumbled upon a live stream of a lesser spotted eagle nest on the portal TVNET. At that time, YouTube was not yet available, and it was the first live stream of its kind in Latvia.

Anda does not consider herself a bird watcher but rather a nest watcher. She compares the activity to watching people on the street or following the relationships of specific families in their homes. This hobby brings her peace and inner fulfillment, and she plans to continue watching the nests in the future.
