Estonia's eighth-ranked tennis player Elizaveta Anikina has secured a spot in the final of the European Tennis Championship for girls under 14. Seeded 16th in the tournament, the 14-year-old faced 15th-seeded Ukrainian Anna Kuznetsova in the semifinal. The match ended prematurely when Kuznetsova retired at 6:3, 3:0, handing victory to Anikina.

In the final, Anikina will meet 13-year-old Ukrainian Maria Kocherzhenko, who is the top seed. Kocherzhenko reached the final by defeating Swiss player Liv Brecher 6:4, 7:6 in the semifinal. The two finalists have met before, in an exhibition match in Tallinn in November 2024, which Anikina won 5:3, 4:2.

According to ERR, the only previous Estonian female junior singles champion in Europe was Kaia Kanepi, who achieved that feat 26 years ago. Anikina now has a chance to follow in Kanepi's footsteps.
