Anker, the charging accessory company founded in 2011, has introduced a new line of plug-in wall chargers featuring a built-in smart display. While the company has previously included basic information readouts and playful visual touches on some devices, this new display goes further.

What the display shows

The screen reveals data that is usually hidden from users, including temperature, charging mode, charging status and real-time power wattage. For supported devices, it can also show battery charging progress. Anker says charging is inherently dynamic, since factors like battery level and temperature affect charging speed, so surfacing this data helps users understand what's happening and simplifies troubleshooting. For example, if power output seems unusually low, the display can help determine whether overheating or a faulty cable is to blame.

Beyond the practical data, the display also features an animated smiley digital character that reacts to touch. A gentle pat on top of the charger makes it appear happy, while a more aggressive tap makes it look dizzy, with swirly eyes.

Other Anker charging technologies

Anker chargers rely on several proprietary technologies. PowerIQ automatically allocates power based on the connected device, since different devices require different wattages to charge at their fastest. Newer models also include ActiveShield, which combines temperature sensing with a tuner chip and performs up to three million temperature checks per day.

The 45W Nano Charger, one of the models in the new smart display lineup, additionally includes a Care Mode designed to protect long-term battery health by slowing down charging, which can lower temperatures by several degrees compared to a standard 45W charger.
