Open-air exhibition inspired by walks through Imanta and Zolitūde opens in Anniņmuiža Park

An open-air art exhibition titled "Birth" is on display in Anniņmuiža Park, in Riga's Pārdaugava district, until October 18. It is the second edition of an exhibition connected to an international art plein air event.

The works on show are environmental art objects created by artists from Latvia, Germany and Ireland. Among the installations is an unusual "water organ" piece that has now become part of the park's landscape.

Inspired by the surroundings

Before creating their works, the participating artists took exploratory walks through the nearby Riga neighborhoods of Imanta and Zolitūde. The purpose of these walks was to let the artists absorb the local environment, architecture, and chance, everyday occurrences they observed along the way, which later fed into the ideas behind their pieces.

The resulting objects are now integrated into the landscape of Anniņmuiža Park, giving visitors a chance to encounter art in a natural outdoor setting. The exhibition is freely accessible to park visitors throughout its run.
