UN Security Council to meet Monday on Russia's war against Ukraine
The UN Security Council will convene on August 24 to discuss Russia's ongoing full-scale war against Ukraine, at the request of five European member states including Latvia.

The United Nations Security Council will hold a meeting on Monday, August 24, dedicated to Russia's continuing full-scale war against Ukraine. The council's secretariat announced the session, according to Ukrinform.
The meeting was requested by five European members of the Security Council — Denmark, France, Greece, Latvia and the United Kingdom.
The session is expected to be chaired by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. Briefings will be delivered by UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo and Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher.
The meeting will begin at 15:00 US Eastern time, which corresponds to 22:00 Kyiv time.
Previous sessions
The Security Council's last emergency meeting on the situation in Ukraine took place on July 27, called in response to Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure and vessels in the Black Sea.
On August 10, the council also held an informal meeting under the so-called Arria formula, focused on Russia's violations of international humanitarian law concerning detained civilians and prisoners of war.
