Anthropic Improves Claude Design Integration with Its Coding Agent Claude Code
Anthropic has rolled out a major update to Claude Design, enhancing its collaboration with Claude Code and improving user experience.

Anthropic has begun rolling out a significant update to its design assistant Claude Design, exactly two months after releasing a preview to subscribers. The key improvement is deeper integration with the company's coding agent, Claude Code.
Claude Design can now start working from a local codebase, meaning any generated assets will include elements already present in front-facing products. Users can then hand off a design to Claude Code, allowing the coding agent to program an interface without starting from scratch. Screenshots are no longer needed to convey intent.
For those who prefer working directly in the coding environment, Anthropic has added the option to create and edit designs from Claude Code by typing "/design" into the terminal.
Quality-of-Life Improvements and New Features
The update includes a more flexible import tool that can build entire design systems from GitHub and raw files. The built-in image editor has been refined to give users finer control over element positioning, sizing, and alignment.
Organizations now have a new admin role that can approve and lock down edits. Regular users can access Claude Design via a new shortcut from the desktop app sidebar or by typing claude.ai/design in a browser.
These changes suggest Anthropic is preparing to move Claude Design out of preview.
Usage Limits and Controversy
Claude Design now shares usage limits with other products, including Claude Code and standard chat. The company says "most people" will hit their limits less often, and the tool is now more token-efficient and less error-prone.
However, limits have been a contentious issue. On Monday, The Wall Street Journal reported that a Washington, D.C. resident has sued Anthropic, accusing the company of misleading consumers about the limits of its Max plans.
Anthropic notes that more than a million people used Claude Design in its first week of availability.
