Teenager dies in scooter crash in Ape parish
A minor died Tuesday evening in Ape parish, Smiltene municipality, after losing control of a scooter he was riding and overturning. Police have launched a criminal investigation.
On Tuesday, September 9, at around 9:20 p.m., a fatal traffic accident occurred in Ape parish in Smiltene municipality, the State Police report.
According to police information, a minor was riding a scooter but lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. The young person died from the injuries sustained. Police have opened a criminal case and are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Overall road situation
The State Police report that over the past 24 hours, a total of 128 traffic accidents were registered across Latvia, injuring a further 13 people.
During the same period, 400 administrative violation decisions were issued for various traffic offenses, including 164 for exceeding the permitted speed limit. Additionally, one administrative violation process and three criminal proceedings were initiated for driving under the influence of alcohol.
