Apple has once again become the world's most valuable company by market capitalization, overtaking Nvidia. Apple's market value rose to about $4.94 trillion, while Nvidia's stood at approximately $4.83 trillion.

Investors increasingly see Apple's cautious approach to capital expenditure as a strength, especially compared to rivals spending tens of billions on artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. While companies like Alphabet and Tesla have boosted spending to support AI data centers, self-driving taxis, and robotics, Apple has reduced its capital expenditure over the past three quarters, even as it expands its own AI platform.

Attention now turns to Apple's quarterly earnings report, due Thursday. Investors are looking for clarity on the company's AI plans, including whether Apple can develop its AI platform without a significant increase in capital spending or pressure on operating margins.

Additionally, current CEO Tim Cook will become chairman of the board on September 1, and it is expected that Chief Operating Officer John Ternus will take over as CEO.
