Apple updates Final Cut Camera to support iPhone 18 Pro's variable aperture

Apple has released an update to Final Cut Camera built around the iPhone 18 Pro's new variable aperture, a feature the company highlighted when it unveiled the phone earlier this month. The app has been redesigned to make settings like ISO and white balance easier to reach, while a two-finger tap now clears the screen to show just the viewfinder.

Because Final Cut Camera can control an iPhone remotely through Final Cut Pro, all the same settings — including aperture adjustments — can also be made from a nearby iPad or Mac. On the editing side, both Final Cut Pro and Motion now support adjusting depth of field and focus points in video shot on the iPhone 18 Pro.

Broader Creator Studio updates

Apple also rolled out changes across several other Creator Studio apps. For subscribers, Pages, Keynote, Numbers and Pixelmator Pro gain new templates and themes. Keynote can now automatically generate images matching the content of a presentation slide, while the subscription-only iPad version of Pixelmator Pro gains the Select and Mask tools previously exclusive to the Mac version.

Several features are also available to non-subscribers. Pages, Numbers, Keynote and Freeform now let users request access to view or edit a shared file. Pages has gained a Screen View mode optimized for reading and focused writing, and Numbers now supports new trigonometry, statistics and logic functions. Freeform boards automatically adapt to dark mode, can be organized into collections, and now fully support Apple Intelligence's Writing Tools.

All of the updates are rolling out today, though some require specific hardware or a subscription. Final Cut Camera's new camera settings, for instance, only work with an iPhone 18 Pro, while Pixelmator Pro's new templates require a $13-per-month Creator Studio subscription.
