Apple's annual iPhone showcase is set for Wednesday, September 9, beginning at 10 AM PDT. The event, branded as “Surprise and shine,” is expected to attract considerable attention, as multiple signs indicate the company is finally ready to enter the foldable smartphone segment — about seven years after Samsung shipped its first generation of such hardware.

Apple has prepared a YouTube stream for the event, and viewers can set reminder notifications there in order to catch the start. It will also be possible to watch the broadcast on Apple's dedicated events page.

Leaks and reports point to the unveiling of the foldable iPhone Ultra, likely to be joined by the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Those versions are expected to appeal to users who prefer a conventional phone or who do not want to spend the rumored $2,000 price of the Ultra. The standard iPhone 18, however, is not anticipated until next year. Apple might also take the opportunity to introduce an updated HomePod, AirPods with built-in cameras and new Apple Watch models.

The announcement will mark the first major product launch led by John Ternus, who took over as Apple's chief executive after longtime CEO Tim Cook stepped down.
