Apple launches $50-a-month AppleCare One Family plan
Apple has introduced a new AppleCare One Family insurance tier priced at $50 per month, covering eligible devices for up to six family members. The plan was announced alongside the launch of the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18.
Apple has rolled out a new device insurance tier in the US aimed at households with multiple users and devices. The AppleCare One Family plan costs $50 per month and covers all eligible devices belonging to up to six people under one subscription.
According to Apple's official description of the plan, coverage extends to eligible devices belonging to all plan members — generally Apple products less than four years old. Members can also add older devices to the plan, and any new product purchased under their Apple ID will be included automatically.
By comparison, the standard AppleCare+ plan only covers a single device, while the individual AppleCare One plan covers up to three devices, all of which must be registered to the subscriber's own Apple ID.
Claim limits and coverage details
The Family plan comes with a combined limit of six theft and loss claims per year across all members — effectively one claim per person if the plan has a full six members. That compares to two claims allowed under standard AppleCare+ and three claims under the individual AppleCare One plan.
Beyond theft and loss protection, the Family plan also includes the usual AppleCare+ benefits, such as free battery replacement and repairs for accidental damage, including cracked screens and back glass.
Setting it up
To sign up for AppleCare One Family, users first need to set up Family Sharing. This is done through the device's Settings menu, under the user's Apple ID and the Family section, where up to five additional members can be invited. Once Family Sharing is active, the subscription can be started from the AppleCare & Warranty section found under General in Settings.
