Apple iPhone Duo Price in the US: Carriers Offer Up to $1,200 Off

US carriers T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon are offering up to $1,200 off Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, but only with 36-month commitments. Apple itself is not discounting the device.

Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, starts at $2,000 in the United States, and according to technology outlet Wired, the best way to get a lower price is through the mobile carriers T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon rather than from the manufacturer. Apple rarely discounts its products, particularly new ones, and this model is backordered, with shipping times stretching into January.

T-Mobile terms

T-Mobile will credit $1,200 to customers who sign up for the Experience Beyond 2.0 plan for 36 months. Existing customers can also choose Experience Beyond or Go5G Next, provided they are not already on another payment plan. The money does not arrive upfront; it is spread over 36 monthly bill credits. For the 256-GB base model, the phone costs $22.22 a month, roughly $800 over three years, while the Experience Beyond 2.0 plan costs $100 a month before taxes and fees. The offer does not apply to full-price purchases or cheaper plans. T-Mobile also offers $1,200 off with a trade-in, and $1,000 off for seniors, military personnel, students and first responders.

AT&T and Verizon

AT&T has a similar scheme: $22.23 a month for 36 months, equal to $1,200 off once the contract is fulfilled. Customers switching from another carrier can also get an $800 reward card, but must pay the phone's full price. Verizon gives $1,200 off with a 36-month Unlimited Ultimate plan, with or without a trade-in, for new and existing customers. It also includes a choice of an Apple Watch Series 12 or an iPad.

Points to consider

Wired notes that the phone stays locked to the carrier until the last payment, and that the total cost rises once fees and taxes are added, though there is no monthly interest. The outlet generally recommends buying an unlocked phone even at full price, but says people planning to stay with one carrier long-term may find the deals worth considering after doing the math.
